three years ago, we announced
technology
Video Identification, or identification of video, which was a landmark in the area of copyright in the online world. It was the first step towards what is now known as Content ID, a complete set of video and audio tools that provides well-oiled controls the rights owners so that they can manage their content in case for someone to upload it to YouTube. Rights owners who participate in this initiative, we provide reference files of its content, which checked each time someone raises new content to YouTube. If we find that this material is copyrighted, the owner of those rights may choose to block content, to track and monetize. Here's how:
Now, three years later, we reached another milestone: they have claimed copyright over 100 million videos using Content ID. Practically, almost all the major record labels and media companies around the world use our tools. Today we have more 4 million reference files provided by rights holders, equivalent to more than 300 thousand hours of content. We believe that this is the most comprehensive database of its kind in the world.
The number of rights holders to claim their contents with Content ID usually more than double the number of views against which we can run ads, which in turn doubles the income potential. We are seeing how media companies are really taking this opportunity to generate income in the fourth quarter, claims to monetize content increased 200 percent. In fact, contributes over Content ID a third to YouTube monetized views each week, and in general terms, the revenue generated by Content ID financed the constant creation of cultural works of artists both established and emerging artists. Content ID When developed, our goal was to help solve the difficult problem of how to manage copyright across platforms and geographies in a technological world that is constantly innovating. We have invested tens of millions of dollars in this technology and will continue to investigate new ways to give to copyright owners even more efficient tools, both will continue to support new forms of artistic expression.
