One year of automatic captions and more news
This November we celebrated the first anniversary of the launch of "automatic captions or subtitles automatic. At first, we worked only with certain channel partner, but soon put the automatic captions available to everyone. As you know, we like to launch products and services quickly and keep improving based on actual user experience, so this year we have been progressing continuously to increase the quantity and improve the quality of online videos captioned. This is a summary of the achievements so far:

At first, we worked only with certain channel partner, but soon put the automatic captions available to everyone. As you know, we like to launch products and services quickly and keep improving based on actual user experience, so this year we have been progressing continuously to increase the quantity and improve the quality of online videos captioned. This is a summary of the achievements so far:
users have watched videos subtitled in more than 23 million times, and have it automatically translated subtitles in more than 7.6 million opportunities. Recently, we have reduced by 20% error rate in our recognition algorithms voice.
When we launched in November 2009, mentioned how the online video presents a challenge to large scale. Before there was the automatic captions, there were about 200 thousand YouTube videos with subtitles. It may seem a huge amount, but the fact is that YouTube is up more than 35 hours of video per minute. Our goal is that everyone can access the videos, but they can not hear what is said or understand the language.
- Since March this year, users have had access to almost any video subtitles in English is spoken clearly. Less than a year later, there is clearly strong demand for subtitled content and that users have made good use of the technology we put at your disposal (more than 23 million views is not a minor detail.) In recent weeks we have deployed significant improvements in our technology to optimize speech recognition accuracy of automatic captions. The new model of YouTube speech recognition reduces the error rate by about 20%. While these improvements vary from live video in accordance with sound quality and clarity of words, this means that if a video in the past correctly identified 50% of the words, now recognizes 60% and 75% identified as before, now can recognize about 80 %. As always, we will continue to make improvements so we have more news soon.
From a personal standpoint, it is encouraging to see all comments, thank you notes, videos, blog posts and to bug reports we have received in the last year. While it is impossible to answer every one of them, are very useful because they allow us to direct and focus the efforts on this project. We have considered the feedback from users perform a number of subtle improvements in service, such as the option "Always show 
automatic captions (or subtitles always display machines) with the addition of a transcription interactive button so the user can see all subtitles and skip through the video, with the red button 
(closed captions) easier to locate.

That equates to 2,100 hours of video every 60 minutes or 50,400 hours that are uploaded to YouTube each day. If we measure it by comparing with films (assuming that a Hollywood film takes on average 120 minutes), 35 hours of video would be the equivalent of more than 176,000 movies released per week. Another way to realize the magnitude of which we are talking about would say that if the three largest TV networks in the U.S. were broadcasting 24 hours a day, every day of the week and the 356 days a year for the next 60 years would still not transmitting the amount of content that is uploaded on YouTube every 30 days. 
The graph shows that in the past two years has more than doubled the content uploaded to YouTube. How was this possible? The following are some of the factors contributing to this growth:

On 20 November is the centenary of the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. On YouTube, we join the celebration of this anniversary with Mexicans from all over the world sharing another revolution is brewing in Mexico right now: a cultural revolution that led to Mexican film talent to occupy a prominent place in the global scenarios .
A group of artists, film directors and producers came together to create Mexican Revolution
